People often think of mental health as just being sad or having anxiety. They don’t recognize that there are many other disorders; due to this fact people do not take the steps about mental health awareness necessary in order to get help for their mental disabilities.

Getting help can be very difficult for someone who has no idea what they’re actually doing wrong with their mind. This is where I come in; I’m going to give you guys a guide so you know how to improve mental health through certain things like hobbies and diets! These will ensure your happiness and success! It’s important to note here, though, that improving your mental health is similar to losing weight – it takes time and effort. If you want results, you have to work for it. It’s not just something that magically happens overnight.

So without further ado, let’s get into the guide!

Stay positive!

A lot of people are happy but don’t realize how great they have it. See if you can find the good in every situation by looking for things like, “Hey, at least I’m not dead!” or “Well this sucks, but at least I have a roof over my head.” This will ensure your happiness and improve your mental health in general!

Keep active!

Being active is important because it releases endorphins which make you feel better about yourself and life in general Try walking to places when possible instead of taking the bus, lift some weights at home or at the gym and go for a jog around the field.

Keep yourself busy

We’ve all heard this advice before but it is very important to stay active and keep your mind occupied and off of any problems you may be having! This can be done in various ways: study more, exercise more, socialize with friends or just go for a walk.

Draw yourself

This might sound strange to some of you but drawing is very therapeutic and relaxing. It can be difficult to explain what I mean so I’ve included some pictures that hopefully help 🙂

Get plenty of sleep!

About 8 hours a night is what most people need to function the best they can. I know this isn’t always possible but do your best!

Try not to think about things too much

If you’re thinking about something too much, try distracting yourself with another activity or something else that will take your mind off of it.

Take a mental health break

This is something I’ve come up with to try and help myself. If you’re feeling stressed, just take a minute to yourself and breathe deeply for about 3 minutes. It will probably be difficult at first but do your best! You can also try meditating or just go for a walk if that’s more your style.

Talk to someone

If you’re feeling stressed or anxious because of school, a family member or a friend try talking to them about it. If that’s not possible, talk to your parents/guardians about mental health and see if they can help!
